Editing
A self-proclaimed word nerd, Shelly collects dictionaries and reads grammar textbooks to unwind. Formerly Director of Central Reservations at Coast Hotels in Vancouver, she is a graduate of the intense writing and publishing program at Simon Fraser University. She recently served on the executive of the B.C. branch of the Editors’ Association of Canada for four years, two of which were as treasurer. The rest of the time, she edits/changes/modifies/corrects all kinds of text under the watchful eye of her blond dog, Oliver.

With nearly 20 years experience in print media, Melissa Harris, owner of Splat Designs, is dedicated to helping other individuals and small to medium-sized businesses develop successful design strategies. Splat Designs provides a wide range of design services including marketing, branding, signage, ad campaigns, and specialty items such as wedding and party invitations.

Writing
As a producer for the Fanny Kiefer Show on My City Radio, Pat relied on her unique communication skills to book guests ranging from sex addiction therapists to stilt walkers. As Director of Major Gifts at BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre Foundation, she wrote successful grant proposals, annual reports, brochures, and newsletters, in addition to raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the hospital.
A former business journalist who has had articles published in numerous high-tech publications, as well as in Chatelaine and Canadian Business, Mary has extensive experience in event planning, fundraising, and communications. Co-owner of one of Toronto’s most popular bistros, Mary draws on her entrepreneurial drive when crafting imaginative copy for everything from brochures to business plans.
